Perhaps you should reconsider taking the man for a "little car ride" and getting the amputation over with... I almost cannot bear to think of all the bitching you'll have to do to get Second Sock done. But I love you, and I'll be sympathetic, and make you goodies to eat, and buy you booze, and feed you tranquilizers, and when that doesn't help, I'll knit a few rounds on the sock, just to give you something fresh to complain about.
