I don't typically do resolutions but the turn of the calendar page revealing a brand new year does make me pause and reflect on the year that has passed. I think of things I'd like to be different this year. No pressure. Just a lot of introspection.
This year end question of the day was posted on an email list I'm a member of:
What was the best thing that happened in your life in 2005? And the worst?
Here was my answer:
I had so many lows this year. It was a rough one. There were my marital problems, the hell we went through with our daughter watching her self destructive behavior as she battled her addiction, having to make the decision to drop out of the nursing program, discovering my best friend was not at all the person I thought she was, and on and on the list goes.
But I've had good things too - I spent the last year building the best friendships I've ever had with two girls here in town. I have never experienced a love between women friends like this. They have been my salvation daily.
My puppy - it's probably not natural how much I love this little dog. : )
Watching my daughter stabilize and find love. That's been great!
And in spite of the problems we've had this past year, I'm feeling like we're pretty tough. To be where we are today is nothing short of a miracle.
Happy New Year.
