more embellishments

Remember "Melinda"? She's now sporting a liner and a trio of yo-yo's all her own. :)

embellishment update

After consulting with some crafty folks I know (and count on) I decided the bag needed three yo-yo/button things.
Thanks Susan & Cami!
Improvement, no?

embellished

Remember "Dawn"? I was tinkering with some embellishment ideas when my mom asked, "Are you going to line the bag?"
I hadn't thought of that, until today. I picked up some fat quarters at JoAnn's for 99 cents. I got my sewing machine out, stitched a liner (thanks mom!), hand stitched it to the inside, made a yo-yo, added a button and viola!
Cute, no?

random act of knitted happiness

Since discovering swap-bot I've been thinking - why do I want to send my cool creations to complete strangers? I know there's a certain appeal in wowing folks I don't know with my mad crafting skills but why not send something randomly to someone I know and love?

I decided to treat my cousin (who I ADORE!) to some knitted happiness. She loves knit dishrags so I searched and found a pattern I liked and sat down to knit her some happiness.

I really like this pattern! I don't know if I like knitting dishrags or not but for a few hours of my time and a few dollars worth of cotton I know I'm making my cousin smile and that is, as they say, PRICELESS.

Love you Cristi!

so i thought i could knit

these little bags are so easy, i thought i could knit. one little pink baby sweater fixed that!
i started a sweater KAL (knit-along) on a group i recently joined and it's turned out to be a hot mess. i'm leaving it alone for now, returning to what i know.

anyone need a bag?

felting: before and after

got this super easy pattern from cathy z's blog. figured it was as good a place as any to start on my first felting project. i used circular needles for the first time too - they were a little awkward in the beginning but once i got the hang of it i finished this bag today. TO-DAY. as in started it this morning, finished it tonight, today. SUPER easy.

i had the green yarn left over from other projects but it wasn't enough to finish the bag. the orange finished it off just fine, i think.

i couldn't even get over the before and after. these pics were taken in the same spot - hanging from my linen closet door. i swear. no photoshopping happened here tonight.

this knitting thing is about to get out of control.
:)

(thanks mom, for all the over-the-phone knitting lessons!)
