Ok, sometimes I create something so good I just have to share!
This pizza ROCKED!
I took this dough recipe: read carefully, this one recipe is supposedly enough dough for SIX 8 to 9 inch pizzas! I made one pizza. -lol- The dough was a little dense. Still tasty though.

I didn't have any pizza sauce so I took the 8 roma tomatoes my neighbor gave me a few days ago (they were WAY ripe), skinned, seeded and chopped them. In a saucepan I added a little water to the tomatoes, a mix of seasonings: onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, basil, salt and sugar and boiled the hell out of it. It reduced nicely and was SO flavorful!
I had bacon, ham and onions as toppings along with some mozzarella cheese. Even picky Ken admitted it was good. And the best part? I didn't have to go to the store for anything! I'm so proud of myself.

Frugal AND tasty. It just doesn't get better than that!

Once I got going, this came together very quickly. Kudos to Amy Butler for creating a pattern even this (slightly) inexperienced seamstress could handle. Her attention to detail is astounding and those who know me know I love attention to detail!

Alas, it was what came before "once I got going" that threatened to do me in. My mom saved the day! That'll learn me to buy new needles for my sewing machine. Who knew a backwards needle could muss things up so! My mom, that's who!

At first, I just had a pocket and after the hour and a half spent trying to figure out why my needle wasn't picking up the bobbin thread, I thought I'd pee myself at this:

I must say though - Amy Butler is most assuredly a skinny girl. Us large-and-in-charge types just might need a little more fabric on an apron.

Maybe I'll give it to my skinny sister for her birthday.

I asked for the scissors for my birthday. I'm hoping Ken forgets I already got them (and the Amy Butler book, In Stitches) and gets me something else. :)
